Fire, on Friday, engulfed the Bono Energy Terminal along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in the Olodi-Apapa area of Lagos, with firefighters from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) deployed to contain the blaze.
The LSFRS spokesperson, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed the incident in a terse statement issued on Friday.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” Amodu said.
Although details surrounding the incident were still sketchy as of press time, emergency responders remained at the scene battling the fire.
The cause of the blaze had yet to be established, while authorities had not released any information on possible casualties or the extent of damage to the facility.
The Bono Energy Terminal is located within the Apapa industrial corridor, home to several petroleum storage and logistics facilities.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said further updates would be provided as efforts to contain the fire continued and more information become available.
