CBN redeploys deputy governors in latest portfolio shake-up

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the redeployment of its deputy governors, effective June 1, 2026.

This is according to reassigned portfolios stated on the apex bank’s official website.

The move signals an internal portfolio realignment at a sensitive point in the monetary and financial system reform cycle.

Accordingly, Mr. Philip Ikeazor has been moved to Economic Policy; Muhammad Sani Abdullahi reassigned to Corporate Services; Emem Usoro now takes responsibility for Operations, while Lamido Yuguda moves to Financial System Stability.

Experts say the reshuffling placed experienced hands across policy, operations, institutional administration, and systemic risk oversight.

CBN is headed by Governor Olayemi Cardoso supported by four deputy governors.

The development comes days after the apex bank Monetary Policy Committee held its 305th meeting which retain interest rate at 26.50 percent.
