Drake breaks Michael Jackson’s billboard record with 14th No. 1 hit

Canadian rapper – Drake – has broken Michael Jackson’s record for the most Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 songs by a solo male artiste.

The milestone was achieved after Drake’s new single “Janice STFU” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Tuesday, May 26, giving him his 14th chart-topping hit.

Michael Jackson previously held the record with 13 No. 1 songs.

The achievement follows the release of his three new albums, “Iceman”, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour” released on May 15.

With 14 No. 1 songs, Drake now ties Taylor Swift and Rihanna for the most No. 1 hits among solo artistes. Only Mariah Carey with 19 and The Beatles with 20 have more.

Drake also set a new record for the most songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week after placing 42 songs on the chart.

Nine Drake songs also appeared in this week’s top 10, while he became the first artist to record more than 400 career entries on the Hot 100.

Reacting on Instagram, Drake posted an image of Michael Jackson with icy blue braids alongside the caption: “Neck broke from carrying the chain. Back broke from carrying the game. Records broken carry on my name. Carry on, carry on.”

His album “Iceman” also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, while “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour” entered at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively, making Drake the first artist to hold the top three spots on the chart at the same time.
