The immediate-past Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, formally declared his intention to run for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency seat.
The seat is currently occupied by Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party, who has also confirmed his intention to seek re-election.
Chinedum, the son of former Governor Theodore Ahamefula Orji, is also a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and the City Boy movement.
Declaring his ambition on Friday while addressing his supporters in Umuahia, the younger Orji said his decision to contest the House of Representatives seat is to provide quality representation to Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency.
“I therefore offer myself once again, not just as an aspirant, but as a voice committed to development and the advancement of our people through quality representation at the National Assembly,” he added.
Chinedum Orji hails from the Ibeku clan of Umuahia North LGA, while Obi Aguocha is from Ohuhu clan, also in Umuahia North LGA.
