Soldiers recover kidnap victim’s car in Abia forest

Troops of 145 Battalion (Rear), under Operation EASTERN SANITY, have successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Camry car during an ongoing search-and-rescue operation in Abia State.

The 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in a statement on Saturday, disclosed that the operation was conducted within the general areas of Uratta and Umuchima forest.

The statement signed by Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Captain Mazinho Attah, said the troops, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the Umuchima forest axis and carried out a carefully coordinated search-and-rescue operation.

He noted that during the operation, the troops successfully recovered one stolen vehicle, a Toyota Camry car, which had earlier been snatched from a kidnap victim, one Mr. Bright Ochinachi.

“Investigations revealed that the victim was abducted along the Umuahia–Aba Road on 15 March 2026 but later managed to escape from captivity,” the statement read.

It explained that the recovered vehicle is currently in Army custody, adding that it would be handed over to the rightful owner after investigation, while intelligence-driven operations are ongoing to apprehend the criminal elements.
