A young lady has been rescued by a local vigilante group in Delta State after she was allegedly lured by a man she met online.
In a video that was trending on Monday, the incident happened in Delta State and according to the victim who gave her name as Anthonia Ovarayi, she was lured by some men she met online from her base in Ughelli to visit them in Warri.
Anthonia said the visit turned out to become her nightmare as the men took her to a forest where they robbed her of all her belongings and forced her to transfer the money in her account to them before tying her to a tree and fleeing the scene.
She was later discovered and freed by members of the local vigilante group, who reportedly responded after receiving information about suspicious movements in the area.
Community sources said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects, while the victim has been reunited with her family.
At the time of filing this report, the Police in Delta State had not issued any statement concerning the incident.
