- Says govt officials are stealing
The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has described as true the allegations that some officials of the government are thieves.
The lawmaker specifically backed a recent claim by the President of the Dangote Industries Limited, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who accused some government officials of embezzling public funds.
Dangote has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged corruption in the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The entrepreneur, through his lawyer submitted a petition, demanding the arrest and prosecution of the NMDPRA chief Cxecurive Officer, Farouk Ahmed.
Addressing the matter in a video posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Senator Kalu urged the government to thoroughly investigate Dangote’s allegation.
He said: “I support what Aliko Dangote said about corruption. We should look into what he is saying because there is truth in it.
“A lot of of money are being stolen here both by people in the private sector and those in the public sector.
“The government should investigate those in the people government. People are stealing, they put me in prison for doing nothing.
“I urged Tinubu to stop people from buying things in dollars. We should stop using dollars in our economy.”
