Hardship: Anglican Bishop slams Tinubu’s economic policies as lacking human face

The Anglican Diocese of Kwoi has called on President Bola Tinubu to give the economic policies being implemented by his government a human face.

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the third session of the fifth synod of the Anglican Diocese of Kwoi held in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The communique was signed by the Bishop of Kwoi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Paul Zamani; Personal Assistant to the Bishop, Ven. Bulus Tonack and Clerical Synod Secretary, Ven. Douglas Dogo.

“While we appreciate the plans and policies being implemented to drive the economy, the synod advocates that these policies should wear a human face.

“This is because many Nigerian citizens are becoming poorer on a daily basis. The synod therefore calls on government to have a rethink on its economic policies on external borrowing and give proper attention to fiscal policies,” he stated.

The communique stressed the need for an urgent action by the Federal Government so as to ameliorate the suffering of the Nigerian people.

It also called on the Federal government to intensify the fight against corruption, as it was the bane of Nigeria’s existence.

“Corruption has entered into the fabric of society to the extent that spiritual and political ideology has eluded the people.

“All corrupt public office holders and collaborators should be brought to book and necessary action be taken against them,” it read.

The diocese decried the level of insecurity in the country, just as it encouraged the government to seek the support of the international community to stamp out terrorism.

It appealed to the Kaduna State governor to step up efforts at addressing the level of decay on roads in the area.

“The synod appeals to the state government to look into the state of Kafanchan township roads, Kafanchan-Kwoi road, Gidan Waya- Barde roads as they have become death traps,” it said.

The communique stated that the third session of the fifth synod had the theme: ‘Be Doer of the Word’.
