The fake factory was uncovered on Wednesday at a multi-storey building during an operation led by the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh.

Recovered from the premises were several pharmaceutical product, including fake malaria drugs, syringes, and many more.

The police chief told journalist that a manhunt has begun for the suspected financier of the fake drugs, simply identified as “One Developer”.

CP Jimoh, therefore, sealed the premises of the factory with a stern warning to members of the public.

According to CP Jimoh, the recovered suspected fake products are “injurious to the life of thousands of people.”

The CP highlighted the dangerous practice of using the machines not only to manufacture counterfeits but also to change the expiry dates of expired drugs.

He declared: “We are currently looking for a major figure referred to as ‘One Developer’, who is suspected of being the primary financier or facilitator of the illegal operation.

“The police intend to escalate the investigation, stating they will not limit the application of the law to just the current location, but will extend it to all areas of the individual’s activities,” he said.

He also stated that the police will work with relevant agencies, including NAFDAC and others, to ensure the prosecution of the case and the execution of all necessary warrants.

A security man found within the premises of the fake products company was arrested.

The CP urged buyers of pharmaceutical products to always ensure that they purchase from approved stores and to always cross-check the manufacturing and expiry dates.
