Niger State governor, Umaru Bago, on Monday evening, received 100 abducted students of St. Mary’s Catholic Private Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, less than 24 hours after their release was first made public.
Governor Bago received the children alongside other officials of Niger State Government at about 5:20pm.
The children were convened in buses to Niger State Government House where they were received by the governor and the other officials.
The students were abducted from the remote community on November 21 by gunmen who stormed their school around 2am on motorbikes and operated for nearly three hours.
The school authorities said 303 students and 12 teachers were abducted by the gunmen.
However, About 50 pupils managed to escape within the first 24 hours and were reunited with their families.
