About five persons were reported killed while several others sustained injuries on Tuesday when security operatives and gunmen engaged in a fierce shootout in Obofia forest, Anambra State.
Reports said the incident happened when the Anambra Joint Security Force (AJSF) invaded two camps of the gunmen at Aguluezechukwu in Aguata council, and Ogboji, in Orumba South council area.
Reports further said that during the raid by the security operatives, some items such as locally fabricated rocket launchers, charms, police uniforms among others were recovered.
Although the police in the State have yet to confirm the casualty figures, it learnt that four gunmen and a police man died during the shootout.
However, the police spokesman said that the hunt for the gunmen have been extended to Obofia forest, Aguluezechukwu and Ogboji areas.
