4 dead, several injured as massive blast rocks Kano

A massive explosion, on Tuesday morning, occurred at Court Road,  Sabon Gari area of Kano metropolis.
The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Samaila Dikko, confirmed that it was a gas explosion.
No fewer than four lifeless bodies were sighted at the scene of the explosion. Rescue operations are still ongoing.
Also six persons had been rescued  and taken to the hospital.
The area had been cordoned off by a combined team of security agencies, including Police, DSS, Civil Defence Corps.
Also, a rescue team from National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Fire Service and Federal Road Safety Corp were also on ground to evacuate victims.
Confirming the incident, the Kano State Government said the early morning explosion did not  occur in schools as widely speculated.
The state commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the incident happened at an animal feeds store opposite the school, along Aba road, Sabon Gari Fagge Local Government Area.
He said while the cause of the explosion was yet to be officially ascertained, investigation has since commenced to determine the cause, impact and measures to be taken.
Malam Garba called on residents of the State, especially those living in the affected area, to remain calm and law abiding, while the government, in collaboration with relevant agencies, work on the matter.
The commissioner assured that the government would keep the public abreast of any development and warned people to desist from spreading unsubstantiated information.
