2027: Ex-Chief of Staff, Mascot Kalu, declares for Abia governorship

  • Banks on Tinubu’s ‘popularity’

Mascot Uzor Kalu, a one-time Chief of Staff to former Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Mascot Kalu, who made the declaration in front of party members in Umuahia on Saturday, promised financial transparency and to fully return Abia Government House to Umuahia.

The APC chieftain who is the younger brother to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, said his decision to vie for the Abia governorship seat stemmed from the desire to bring good governance to the people and to bridge the wide gap between the rich and poor people in Abia.

He called for peace and unity in Abia APC, saying that the broom party is endowed with the personalities that will work for the party’s victory.

He stated that he would ensure that Abia State Government House would no longer function outside Umuahia the State capital, noting that financial allocations due to Abia local governments would not be tampered with.

He also said that his party would leverage the popularity and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the centre to achieve victory.

He further called on APC members to be united and work in one direction.
