2026 UTME: JAMB to monitor CBT centres remotely from Abuja

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that any Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre that cannot be monitored remotely will be barred from participating in the 2026 UTME registration.

The announcement, published in the board’s weekly bulletin on Monday, is part of a new initiative tagged “No Vision, No Registration, No UTME” aimed at curbing registration irregularities.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, told stakeholders that all CBT centres will be monitored live from JAMB’s National Headquarters in Abuja.

“Any centre whose registration activities cannot be viewed from the JAMB National Headquarters, Abuja, will not be paid, and such registration may be invalidated,” he said.

He emphasised that only Microsoft or Digitech live cameras will be accepted for capturing candidates’ second images during registration, a measure introduced to prevent manipulation of photos detected in the 2025 UTME exercise.

He said  all centres must now migrate to HIKVision wired CCTV systems, with a minimum of 16 channels covering examination areas, verification rooms, walkways, entrances, exits, and server rooms. Wireless systems are not allowed.

“Erring centres would be sanctioned, including possible prosecution,” Oloyede warned.

He added that the board will not fund any CCTV upgrades, and centres must handle costs before being allowed to operate. He also reminded that individuals and centres previously involved in malpractice had been delisted and prosecuted.

Registration for the 2026 UTME officially began on Monday, January 26.
