2023: Tinubu visits Jonathan, seeks ex-president’s support over presidential ambition

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, earlier on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to former president Goodluck Jonathan, a move that is seen as realignment of political forces ahead the 2023 general elections.

Vice presidential candidate of the APC, Kashim Shettima, Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara State), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara State), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa State) and Simon Lalong of Plateau State, who doubles as Director General of the campaign council, accompanied Tinubu to Jonathan’s residence.

The 2023 presidential campaigns will start later in September.

Reports say that Tinubu and Jonathan discussed behind closed doors, details of which were not made public.

However, Tinubu said his visit to Jonathan was for consultation in his capacity a former President of the country, and an elder statesman.
