2023: Tinubu, labour union leaders’ parley inconsequential, says Obi-Datti campaign team

The spokesperson for Peter Obi-Yusuf Baba-Ahmed Datti Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Mr. Yunusa Tanko, has dismissed speculations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu may have won over the hearts of organized labour following his meeting with labour leaders in Abuja on Monday.

Tanko said the leadership of the Labour Party is not aware of a town Hall meeting between Tinubu and organised labour unions.

Tinubu and top members of his campaign council, on Monday, met with the leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (APC) among others.

At the event, the APC candidate marketed himself to the labour leaders.

But Tanko, through a statement on Tuesday, said his party, which is affiliated with the NLC, TUC and others, was not aware of the meeting.

“We were not aware of the meeting but the TUC and NLC are for everybody.  You can come and discuss. But we know they are owner of the Labour Party.

“But there is no cause for alarm.

“We don’t entertain any fear if they meet with Tinubu and members of the ruling party or not. But I wasn’t aware of the meeting anyway,” Tanko said.
