2023: Thousands of supporters march in Enugu for Peter Obi’s presidency

Economic activities were paralysed in Enugu metropolis on Saturday as a crowd of supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi embarked on a solidarity march in the city.

The crowd, which included men, women and youths from different parts of Enugu State, made vehicular and normal activities within Enugu capital city to be kept on hold for hours as they staged a solidarity walk on major roads and streets.

The supporters, early Saturday, converged on the Michael Okpara Square, from where they marched through the capital city singing solidarity songs for Obi and dancing as they moved.

Some residents, who were not part of the crowd at the inception, abandoned their chores to join the crowd chanting “Obi is our next president”.

The rally was peaceful as the excited participants conducted themselves in an orderly manner.

Although there were no known organizers of the event, some of the participants said they were rallied on social media to participate.

“When I heard there would be a solidarity march for Obi, I went and prepared this banner and happily when I came, many others had their banners too. So, we’re doing it to show solidarity for our man, Peter Obi,” the participant said.
