…As factional candidate Ezenwafor drops ambition
Chief Jude Ezenwafor, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), who was declared winner of the primaries by his faction, has dropped his presidential ambition.
Ezenwafor said after wide consultations, decided to drop his ambition.
He has also reportedly met Mr. Peter Obi, who was declared the presidential candidate of the party by the Julius Abure -led Labour Party.
The letter announcing his withdrawal from the race read in part: “I hereby withdraw from the forthcoming Presidential Election in 2023. After consulting my supporters nationwide, I decided to withdraw for personal reasons.
“I regret any inconvenience my withdrawal might cost our great Party. I thank the leadership of our great Party for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had also earlier dismissed Ezenwafor and his faction.
With the latest development, the coast is now clear for Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State to contest the 2023 presidency without hitches.
