2023: Only rigging can stop Obi from winning presidency, says Prof Nwala

Uzodinma Nwala, an emeritus professor of Philosophy at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has suggested the only reason Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), might not emerge President from the 2023 general elections.

Nwala, who was Peter Obi’s lecturer and mentor in Nsukka, explained that the LP flag bearer can only lose if the 2023 election is rigged.

The erstwhile lecturer shared his opinion on the politics of Nigeria during an interview with The Whistler.

He said: “Peter Obi can only lose this election if it is rigged; rigged in a very dirty manner. I can tell you Peter Obi will win the coming election. If he wins, he may only be stopped from serving the Nigerian people if there’s a coup. These are alternatives, which some unpatriotic people in power may resort to.”

Asked why he is confident that Obi would clinch the presidency, Nwala said the youths are awoken, and are ready to do what it takes to make sure that LP flag bearer wins the election.

“It seems to me that the youth of this country are also ready to do what their counterparts did in other places to stand toe-to-toe; to stop anybody who wants to take us back to Egypt,” he said.

Asked again if the support of the youths alone could guarantee the victory of the former governor, Nwala replied: “It’s not only the youths that are supporting Peter Obi, the youth are at the forefront. Many elders, writers, scholars and veterans are supporting him but they are not talking yet. They’re also not on the streets to show their support yet.”
