* Say Nigerians now despise APC govt
Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has expressed optimism that Nigerians will vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
According to him, a lot of Nigerians, including youths, are disappointed in the way the APC government has managed affairs of the country since coming to power in 2015.
He predicted food insecurity in the next few years in Nigeria due to growing insecurity.
He said the successful conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s National Convention was a pointer to the party’s readiness to rescue Nigeria from the current hopelessness that pervades the country.
Okowa, who spoke on Tuesday on Channels Television’s programme “Politics Today” said: “We are not competing with them anymore because looking through the years of the PDP and that of the APC of about six years plus the difference is clear; Nigerians are able to see for themselves.
“Though things were very difficult, we were able to build a foundation during Obasanjo’s administration. The reverse is the case in this present administration in such a manner that is not good for our nation.
“The level of insecurity, the economy today, the naira-to-dollar situation, indeed, there are too many issues.
We are getting to a stage now where there is a shortage of food for the middle class, not to talk of the low class.
“The high level of unemployment has become unbearable. Farmers cannot even access their farms. We have gotten it all wrong in this current administration, and I believe that Nigerians know the truth.
“Nigerians know that PDP will do a lot better than APC; there is no competition, no comparing, it is quite clear that we are not moving in the right direction under the APC government.”
Similarly, Minority Leader of the House of Representative, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu has revealed why Nigerians will vote for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), instead of the APC, in the 2023 general elections.
Elumelu, while expressing optimism in the 2023 presidential election, said the PDP has now put its house in order preparatory to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Following the successful conduct of the PDP National Convention held in Abuja over the weekend, Elumelu said PDP has once again proven to Nigerians that they are ready and capable of pushing a failed APC out of power.
He added that Nigerians will vote PDP because they have lost hope in the ruling APC and need a party to rescue them and set the country back on the path to greatness.
“Indeed, the unity of purpose and the spirit of sportsmanship witnessed at the event, despite all the challenges, further underscore the democratic credentials of our party as the platform for all Nigerians in the collective determination to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and return her to the path of good governance, national cohesion and economic prosperity.”
“The PDP national convention further highlights the readiness, capability and willpower of the PDP to regain power in 2023 and end the life of misery, poverty, hunger, bloodletting, unemployment, suppression and humongous corruption that has been the hallmark of the APC failed and anti-people administration.
“The widespread interest by Nigerians and the nationwide applause that trailed the successful conduct of the convention confirm the resolve of our citizens to march with the PDP to take back our country from the suppressive grip of APC, come 2023.
“It is therefore imperative that we remain united and ensure that all interests within the party are carried along in the task ahead. We must continue to foster an all-inclusive platform that provides a level playground for all.
“We must bear in mind that the task before us is an enormous one, given the immensity of the confidence Nigerians repose on our party as their only hope. From the devastation of the APC is paramount to all at this point in our national life,” the statement read.
