2023: Ohuabunwa visits IBB, shares thoughts on Nigeria’s unity, peace, prosperity

A presidential hopeful and founder of the New Nigeria Group (NNG), Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, has visited the former military president, Gen Ibrahim Babangida, at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.

Ohuabunwa’s visit was in continuation of his nationwide consultations ahead of the 2023 general election, which he has indicated interest to contest the office of president.

At the meeting with Babangida, sources said Ohuabunwa decried Nigeria’s economic backwardness, and insecurity, both of which he attributed to bad leadership and injustice.

Ohuabunwa emphasized the importance of building bridges of friendship across the country, citing an example with the former Deputy Governor of Niger State, Dr. Nuhu Zagbayi, who accompanied him on the visit.

He said Zagbayi accompanied him to Babangida because of the good relationship they have enjoyed over the years.

The presidential hopeful described his meeting with the former Head of State as fruitful, encouraging and a plus for his quest to serve Nigeria as president, and using the position uplift the citizens.

He also emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, urging political, traditional and religious leaders to take responsibility and drive the healing process, so that the country could bounce back to the path of development and competitive democracy.

Responding to the question as to his reason for moving about with members of the New Nigeria Group Executive from all parts of the country, Ohuabunwa said “you need Nigerians to rebuild Nigeria”, hence his decision to practice what he preaches.

“People would likely work harmoniously on a project if you make them understand how important the task ahead is to their immediate and long-term goals,” he said.
