2023: North-South Alliance declares Ohuabunwa most suitable for President

North-South Alliance, a political think tank group that believes in one Nigeria governed for unity, peace and justice, has declared the convener of New Nigeria Group (NNG), Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, most suitable to be Nigeria’s president in the next dispensation.

The group made the declaration recently in Lagos, during a press conference on the 2023 presidency, addressed by Professor Ukachukwu Anwuzie, a former president of ASUU, and former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University.

The title of Anwuzie’s speech was: ‘We have found the President’

In it, the group, looking beyond rotational presidency between North and South for a solution to Nigeria’s numerous challenges, declared that Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, a former chairman of Nigeria Economic Summit Group, holds the ace to steer the country on the path of prosperity.

Below is the full text of the press conference:

We have found the President

Gentlemen of the Press, we are delighted to have you here today, as we trudge ahead seeking solution to many issues bedeviling our great nation, chief of which is our abject failure and willful incapacity to produce desired leadership, that will mobilize, maximize and progressively coordinate our God given resources for a better life for all.

For all these years, we have been unfortunate to have pretenders as our drivers. Many of all those who have led us were brought up and encouraged to take leadership by persons who have their own agenda and targets.

And usually, they were reluctant. We do not need to bore you with historical facts, but you can remember how Obasanjo emerged, how Yar’Adua became President, the game plan that brought Goodluck Jonathan to Aso Rock, and how President Muhammadu Buhari, tired and done with contesting, as self-confessed, was swooped upon by power mongers and ‘used’ as honey to collect bread from Nigerians. Now we all know why they are confessing regrets and changing the narrative.

Anyway, our group, believing in one Nigeria, governed by Unity, Peace and Justice, having discovered that all the agitations, distortions and disturbances we are experiencing are induced by leadership insincerity, insensitivity, incompetence and selfishness, have come to terms with the fact that our problem is not necessarily rotation between North and South and neither is it relationship between South and North.

The seeming hostilities between both ends of our nation is artificial and now found to be induced by political elites to perpetually create non existing hateful bitterness so as to keep ordinary citizens from both zones divided and subjugated.

Gentlemen of the Press, what that means is that we do not necessarily need any zoning to get Nigeria on track. Zoning as a matter of fact, thus far, has not shown any real advantage, except perhaps for the notion of giving every region the feeling of belongingness, but really what did the Southwest gain in eight years of Obasanjo as President, what about the South -South during President Goodluck and now you can tell what is happening to the Northwest as their own presides.

It is on this note that we agree with other current voices that what we need is competence, integrity and conscientiousness but we disagree that this can be achieved outside creating or playing in a major political party or by mere rhetoric and not pragmatic inclusiveness. Let all good people, well to do, well meaning, arise to take back Nigeria from the hands of these unpatriotic few who jump around after our common patrimony with no real vision for Nigeria, nor workable plans to deliver Nigeria from chronic poverty, endemic corruption, pervading injustice and the unmitigated insecurity they breed.

We have found a worthy Southern candidate

Talking about competence, integrity, conscientiousness and excellence, we are pleased to announce to you that following months of diligent search, we have found a worthy candidate fit to take Nigeria out of the troubled waters and we are here recommending him to Nigerians to be examined, considered, adopted and supported to occupy the highest office in Nigeria come 2023.

He is Mazi Sam Iheanyichukwu Ohuabunwa

Incidentally, he is from the Southeast, a region that has not really been tested and given the chance to have her best at the driver’s seat of our national destiny. The last individual from that zone who led Nigeria, did so for only 6 months over 50 years ago.

Mazi Sam, as popularly called by his friends is a detribalized Nigerian, a Lagos based business mogul, who sat at the top of Pfizer and later Neimeth. Trained at the University of Ife (now OAU) as a pharmacist, he proceeded to Columbia University, New York for further training in Organizational and Corporate Management. This is apart from several others in Pharmacy and Management.

He is a Fellow of several local and international Professional Bodies. He was Chairman of MAN, President of NECA, Chairman of NESG, President NACC among several others. He was involved in the fashioning of VISION 2010 and VISION 2020

Despite his extensive involvement in the private sector, he has been quietly involved in public and governmental intervention programs such as NHIS, NISER, NEITI, NIPRD among others. He was involved in SURE-P advisory and a member of National Political Reform Conference in 2005.

MSO is a bundle of talent, multi skilled, proven servant leader, successful entrepreneur, social worker, Nation builder, writer and author.

If as a nation, we truly need a break from the past and we genuinely want our nation to progress, away from maladministration, poverty, hunger, unemployment, banditry and all forms of violent agitations, it is high time we shifted ground from seeking tribal leadership that has failed us all and move towards electing competence; tribe, language or religion notwithstanding.

While we urge Nigerians to consider and embrace our nominee, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, we appeal to him to also consider seeking the ticket of one of the major political parties so that his Presidency will be a reality.

As for some of us being members of different Political Parties and others being none partisan players, we are all ready to follow up with MSO to his Party of choice.

It is our prayer that never again will Nigerians, whether in the North or South witness the pains, panic and poor humanitarian conditions we are currently going through nationwide.

Our deliverance from current national distortions is a collective task. Let us all support a credible and worthy candidate.

God Bless Nigeria.
