2023: Keyamo faults Bloomberg’s poll favouring Obi to win Presidency

Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), has faulted the Bloomberg poll that tips Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to win next year’s election.

The poll, which was conducted by Premise Data Corporation for Bloomberg News and published on Wednesday, showed that Obi is the candidate most Nigerians prefer to clinch the presidency.

Specifically, the poll surveyed 3,973 Nigerians from September 5 to 20, and respondents to the app-based poll were selected from quotas developed by age, gender and location across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

It also added that results were weighed against the original quotas to ensure national representation, noting that about 44% of Nigerians own smartphones, according to the Alliance for Affordable Internet.

The report also said that the All Progressives Congress and Peoples’ Democratic Party’s performance were not so favourable.

But Keyamo, through a statement shared on his Twitter page, faulted the reports, stating that more than 95% of Nigerians do not have access to the app deployed in conducting the poll.

The APC chieftain also dismissed the method of polling, insisting that it lacks credibility compared to sending surveyors out into the field.

He tweeted: “The report of @BloombergAfrica said it used an APP to conduct an opinion poll in Nig. where more than 95% don’t have access to such apps. This style is even lower in credibility than when you send people to the field. This is the most delusional poll I have seen since I was born.”
