* Senate Chief Whip knows nothing about it, says media aide
Several campaign posters of the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Ozor Kalu suggesting his interest in the 2023 presidential race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have surfaced in Umuahia, Abia State.
The posters, which bear inscriptions such as: “Vote Dr Uzor Kalu for President – A New Nigeria is here”, and describing him as a “nation builder”, are conspicuous at Abia Towers’ roundabout, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
The posters are said to have been produced by the Arewa Youth.
The association, through its National President, Mohammed Umaru, had declared its support for the emergence of an Igbo as president in 2023, and sought the cooperation of other geo-political zones.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted Kalu’s media aide, Maduka Okoro, as saying that his principal knows nothing about the posters, adding however that the posters might have been placed by those who love the former governor for his person and capabilities.
“We did not paste posters of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu anywhere. We have not contemplated that, and we have not made any categorical statement,” Maduka Okoro reportedly said.
