Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that he is not desperate to be President, but will not hesitate to be, if Nigerians give him the opportunity to pilot the leadership of the country.
Kalu spoke on Sunday during an interview on Channels TV Programme Politics Today.
He said: “I am not having that kind of ambition… But if I am given (the opportunity), why not? I will take it.
“If visions are being seen, and people say ‘this and that’; if it is the will of God that I will become president, why not?
“I am very capable mentally and otherwise to do whatever Nigerian people want me to do but not through prophecy,” he added.
The former governor of Abia State further canvassed support for the South-east to produce the President of the country in 2023.
“I believe if Nigeria the Nigerian people want to be fair, a Southeast president from Igbo extraction will be the next thing to do,” he stated.
On insecurity, Kalu lamented the country is painfully at war with itself.
He called on the citizens to come out quickly and address issues concerning them.
