2023: Amaechi didn’t jog to mock my principal, Tinubu campaign DG clarifies

The Director-General of Tinubu Support Group Management Council, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, has described as unfair, insinuation that the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi jogged round the stadium during his presidential declaration last weekend in order to mock Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is perceived to be physically unfit for the rigors associated with the office of the President.

Amaechi had, on Sunday while declaring in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, ran around the stadium ostensibly to show his fitness for the office.

Several Nigerians have raised questions about the health and fitness of Tinubu, one of the foremost presidential aspirants in APC.

Prior to his declaration to contest the 2023 presidency, Tinubu had spent months in London for a medical treatment. It was later revealed that he went for a knee surgery.

But Amaechi in a dramatic display in Port Harcourt, ran round the stadium in a manner suggesting his fitness to withstand the vigor of the presidency.

However, this did not go down well with Tinubu’s loyalists and supporters.

In a tweet, Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives, said: “It’s unfair to minister Amaechi for some people to think by running round the stadium he was trying to mock the age of incumbent President Buhari, brand new APC Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu and incoming president, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I believe he was only trying to save time.”
