12 foreign, indigenous coaches apply for Super Eagles top job


No fewer than 12 foreign and indigenous trainers have applied for the vacant post of the Super Eagles head coach.

The Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) recently declared the Super Eagles head coach position vacant following the expiration of the contract of erstwhile handler, Jose Peseiro.

Reports say that  former Golden Eaglets and Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, erstwhile Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh and one of Peseiro’s assistants, Finidi George have applied for the Job.

Nigerian-American, Michael Nsien, who is currently the head coach of US U-19 team; Sylvanus Okpala, an assistant under the regime of late Stephen Keshi and former head coach, Samson Siasia, have also applied for the job.

Others who have reportedly submitted their applications are, Daniel Amokachi, Ndubuisi Egbo, Salisu Yusuf and a Portuguese, Antonio Conceicao.

The NFF is expected to name a new head coach for the Super Eagles before the team’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
